THAT’S SOMEONE ELSE’S PROBLEM
How can it possibly be there still are self-absorbed knuckleheads that think that the earth will heal itself, no matter how much damage we inflict upon it?
“Scientists Report Reasserts Man’s Role in Climate Change,” the headline in the Wall Street Journal declared, after the issuing of an 869-page report from the National Academy of Scientists. The peer-reviewed study was done by 55 scientists from academia, industry and elsewhere vetted by the academy. Yet, at this moment not too many Floridians even care that their own peninsula may not even exist toward the end of this century. But, that’s someone else’s problem.
Yes, it was “man’s role” in the devastation being caused by the recent BP oil spill in the Gulf, and a perfect example of the complete disregard for the safety of our planet. Incredibly, there were few safe guards in place at the off-shore drilling platform to prevent such a disaster — a disaster that will be felt by the people, plants, fish and animals in Louisiana and beyond for decades to come. But, that’s someone else’s problem.
Couple the earth’s devastation by man with that of the inner and outer space garbage flying dangerously close to space craft and you have a planet not
long for this earth. Add the problem of the lack of drinkable water in many countries to the equation and you will have never-ending revolutions. But, that’s someone else’s problem.

HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY TO US!
There’s only one reason Lighthouse Point Magazine is still going strong after eight years — no, that’s a lie! It’s more like 25 reasons we are the “Biggest Little Magazine in South Florida,” and all those reasons appear on page 41.
I’ve been blessed with some of the most loyal and talented people in the world, and no words would be appropriate enough to describe my
love and appreciation. We still need your valuable input because that too has been another reason for our success. So please keep those letters and emails coming, and we will continue to serve you with the same passion and dedication for years to come!
