Rev. Jack Noble and Granny Green Slime
Vacation Bible School was held at The First Presbyterian Church of Pompano, also known as “The Pink Church,” during the week of June 16-20, 2008. The theme of this year’s Vacation Bible School was Power Lab ” Discovering Jesus’ Miraculous Power.”
The children rotated through five stations each day, which were Bible Blast, Sonic Songs, Bible Point Crafts, Test Tube Treats, and Chadder Theatre. The daily Bible Point was reinforced at each station. Each day the children took home a Bible Buddy, which included the daily Bible verse along with an art project and daily challenge. The Mission for this year’s school was the Hope Rural School in Florida.
Approximately 70 children attended Vacation Bible School each day from 1:30 to 4:30 pm. Thursday, Granny Green Slime visited the children from Mad Science. Granny Green Slime demonstrated various science experiments to the children including eating a burp.
On Friday June 20, a short program was held for the parents in the Sanctuary to showcase what the children had learned during the week at Vacation Bible School. Mary Ott and Dwayne Black accompanied the children on piano and guitar respectfully.
Vacation Bible School is sponsored by the Youth Ministry, which is led by Dwayne Black Jr. The church is under the leadership of Rev. Jack Noble and holds three services on Sunday at 8:00 am in the Chapel, a contemporary service at 9:30 am and a traditional service at 11:00 am, both in the Sanctuary.
